Even I can do this- and I stink at journaling. As someone who struggles with anxiety, I am EXCELLENT at catastrophizing and seeing the negative. This journal is helping me FOCUS on seeing what is going WELL in my life and with my children. It is shining lights on where I and and am finding JOY in my motherhood. It's small, doable, short, concise, and focused.

I have always loved capturing memories. Especially in writing form. When my oldest son was a baby I bought a “Mom’s One Line A Day Journal” that is similar in concept to Rachel’s and loved it but was wanting more. When I came across Rachel’s it was such a perfect fit and had the missing pieces I didn’t even know I was missing until I tried it out.
Not only is it a way for me to track memories, it is also a way to see my own improvements and progression as person, as a mother and as a family. It’s cool to look back and see the progression we’ve made throughout the years. Rachel has created different topics for each month which are truly inspiring and help keep me improving, checking in with myself and growing as a family. Writing these moments down helps me realize things don’t stay stagnant. The hard times will come and go which helps me savor the golden moments and focus my energy on those. My favorite thing is that I can write a lot or a little. It doesn’t matter.

I bought a journal as a gift for my sister's birthday and one for my sister-in-law who was battling cancer. When my sister opened her Flecks of Gold Journal, she laughed because her mother-in-law had also given her one. So she gifted it right back to me! In a round about way, it has become one of the greatest gifts I didn't plan to give myself. Flecks of Gold has been the first journal I've been able to keep up (nearly every day for a full year!) Even when life got busy, I was able to capture one or two lines of the magical moments I want to treasure forever. The journal is my treasure box. Every day, I find myself looking for the golden treasure throughout the day so that I can write about it. And whatever we focus on magnifies, so I'm experiencing more and more golden moments! It's more than a journal, it's a magic wand! I write in my journal and watch for more magic to happen in my life.

I wanted to support Rachel because I LOVE her podcast and everything she does and it's neat watching her follow her dreams! And I just loved the idea behind the journal. I have been wanting to start a gratitude practice and this seemed like the perfect way to start. I really liked the 3-year model and that it can also be used as an heirloom for my kids in the future. It's a simple thing to do and they are beautiful journals. I also really enjoy the monthly tidbits that she provides- such great insight and reminders to use throughout our motherhood journey. As I have gotten in the practice of using the journal, I find myself actively looking for "flecks of gold" moments throughout the day which in turn makes me more engaged and thankful for the small, intimate details of my life that often get overlooked in the midst of our busy, chaotic lives. This wonderful journal is a daily reminder of all the small, wonderful, meaningful moments that make up our beautiful lives- we just have to open our eyes a little to see them. I was always caught up in the "to do's" of life, the business, the chores, and managing my young kids. This has made me slow down and really appreciate and then savor the small, important moments with our kids or even just with life in general. I love the gray color, the 3-year design, the monthly insights, and there is just the perfect amount of space to write each entry. LOVE IT!!!
